Türkçe Yaz Dönemi 2021 - Bitti!

2021 Summer Semester Class - G66 Türkçe Ctesi 14-17

It started with around 25 students and ended with just this much.. less than 10. This bunch are the regular-attending students.. some weeks there are 1 or 2 additional students but they are not as active and as regular as us that's in the photos.

This summer semester only covers the 1st 2 units in the text book and some grammar. When it comes to verbs, I seriously have a hard time remembering them as it seems like it sounds and seems alike! Turkish language is like, with an additional vowel or a pair of alphabets, the whole meaning can change.  and when there are just a lot of conjugate forms, sometimes I have this tendency to forget the root verbs. i guess it's just me being a beginner.

I am not too sure if the language is harder than spanish, but i keep on having hard time living with turkish. when we learn a new grammar rule, i have a hard time trying to make a sentence that my teacher actually call out to me because i am usually a very responsive student! always mencapap! hahahah..i guess i have a better internet connection and having macbook and ability to record the lesson does help. especially when i have time to go over the lesson after the class.

the other hard time learning the language, i guess it is due to the teachings are all in Turkish and not as what most of the students expected. we expect the class will be conducted in English. Sometimes, most of us just don't respond to the teacher because of language barrier- anlamiyoruz!. and i am..not a very peramah kinda lady..so, having a hard time understanding really slow me down and sometimes even a total shut down! i hope hocam won't feel any less great about us ignoring her coz i love the way she teach. it's just the language barrier. being a total 0 to having to attend new language class..even the book is in total Turkish. try imagine that!

i still remember how excited everyone about the class. however, right after the 1st lesson break, everyone was like feeling too overwhelm and it's even tiring and all we know was "Merhaba" here there and everywhere! Thankfully.. as the class progressing, we managed more than just a Hello.

This language is hard..but i seriously like the language more and more. the language itself is unique and much different from other language and when i watch a youtube video on polyglot where they speak Germany, Spanish, Japanese, Turkish and English at the same time..while i like the sound of Spanish, i like Turkish much better. It has this interesting sound and the way words are form..and even how it is spoken... So when Nilgün hocam give a link to register for next semester, ben çok mutluyum ve formu dolduruyorum.

Despite all those hardship, i love the past 12 weeks x 3 hours per week of learning the language. i don't get to go too far from what i was, but definitely i am not a zero in Turkish anymore. so my next step is to go over notes and try to incorporate as much turkish as possible in my daily life and try to make few sentences in turkish everyday. i also plan to watch turkish drama or anything in the language and make my ear more acclimatised with the language. maybe, even use some turkish with my kids? heheh... no harm in using your own children, right?

Nilgün'a Hocam, seni çok seviyorum ve çok teşekkür ederim. Görüşürüz!
